" My work is in reaction to the simplicity and complexity of light and color on the landscape. The paintings that result may fill an entire canvas with fiery colors of a sunset or an element of abstraction to create large fields of color. My sensitivity and observation of atmospheric perspective has been and will remain a lifelong study. Living in South Texas and experiencing the summer heat and year round tropical foliage has extended my palette and subject matter tremendously.

Historically, my most important artistic influence has been the work of J.M.W Turner, the English painter. I studied at Washington University in St. Louis, MO and received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree at the University of Texas, San Antonio. It was in San Antonio that I worked with landscape artist, Charles Field, Professor of Painting at the University of Texas and mentored with San Antonio artist, Alberto Mijanjos at his studio, One Nine Zero Six.

Most importantly, I owe a great deal to my mother and father who taught me to look beyond the superficial and also to my husband who gave me the courage to express it. "
